People often see procrastination as a problem.
They think they’ve got to conquer it, beat it, overcome it.
And if they don’t, they beat themselves up.
“Aww man, I was supposed to do this thing but didn’t. Ugh, what’s wrong with me!?”
Here’s the thing:
Sometimes procrastination is needed.
It may be part of your process.
You need time to let ideas digest. To mull things over. To let time go by and see if that idea you had still lights a spark in your heart.
It may also keep you from going down the wrong road.
Maybe you’re procrastinating on building your business because you actually don’t give a damn about building your business.
You just *think* you should care about it because that’s what everyone else is doing. And you’ve already paid all that money for that business coach…
In cases like this, procrastination is just a symptom of a deeper problem. The problem being: You haven’t found the thing that lights you up so much that procrastination doesn’t even enter into the equation.
Finding that involves shutting out the outside world and connecting to your heart and to the real you. It’s listening to those quiet whispers that nudge you in a direction that seems absurd.
And taking small steps to prioritize what lights you up instead of being a slave to your endless obligations.
There is, however, a time when procrastination is something to conquer though. And that’s when it’s based in FEAR.
You’re afraid if you apply for that job you’ll get rejected and feel like a loser, so may as well check Instagram real quick instead.
You’re afraid if you promote your business nobody will care and you’ll feel like a reject.
You’re afraid if you get on stage everyone will laugh at you so may as well hang back and give it a go next time…
If you’re a freelancer/solopreneur and you want to grow your business but you never get to it due to fear, lack of clarity, or not having enough time…
